Introduction:-
Khatu Shyam Temple is located in Sikar ,Rajasthan. This temple is located in Khatu Village just 43 km from Sikar city. Khatu Shyam Temple is a major Hindu temple, where Lord Krishna and Barbarik are worshipped.
In Khatu Shyam Mandir it is believed that there is the real head of Barbarik, who was a great warrior. At the behest of Lord Krishna, he cut off his head during the Kurukshetra war and offered it to him as Guru Dakshina. Later Shri Krishna blessed him to be worshiped with the name Shyam.
The Story of Khatu Shyam Temple, in Dwaparyug, Shri Krishna had given a boon to Shyam ji that in Kalyug his name would be famous as Shyam. After this, Barbarik's head was installed in Khatu Nagar (present-day Sikar district of Rajasthan state), due to which he was called Khatu Shyam Baba.
Foundation of Mandir
The foundation of the temple was laid in 1027 AD by Roop Singh Chauhan and his wife Narmada Kanwar. Then, in 1720 AD, the temple was renovated on the instructions of Dewan Abhay Singh of Thakur, the ruler of Marwar.
According to the devotees, a cow in Khatu Nagar started flowing milk from its breasts every day. Later, during the excavation, Barbarik's head was revealed at that place, which was handed over to a Brahmin for a few days.
At Khatu Shyam Temple , every year lakhs of devotees come here and wish to fulfill their wishes.

Importance of Khatu Shyam Mandir :-
Lord Shri Krishna dedicated Barbarik's head to the river Rupavati at the end of the war. Then in Kaliyuga, following the dream of the king of Khatu village and the miracles around Shyam Kund, Khatu Shyam Temple was established in the month of Phalguna. On the eleventh day of Shukla Paksha, the idol of Khatu Baba was installed in that temple.
In 1720 BC, Diwan Abhay Singh rebuilt this temple and Shyam Kund was recognized in the country and abroad. It is believed that every wish of the devotees who take bath in this pond is fulfilled. The identity of this temple is the highest among many temples of Baba.

The bus facility is available from Jaipur to Khatu Shyam Mandir and buses run at regular intervals. And you can take a taxi or rickshaw from the bus stand at the temple location to reach the temple.

Khatu Shyam Fair is organized every year on Ashtami to Navami dates of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month. Lakhs of devotees come to this fair to have darshan of Khatu Shyam Baba and pray to him to fulfill their wishes.
